This is not a period piece, but rather a carefully reassembled puzzle: some of the pieces remain missing whilst others have been deliberately left out.
Twenty years on, the play feels like a period piece cornball, sure, but with a big-heartedness and linguistic vitality that todays emerging writers could learn from.
