From 1977 to 1983 Alfons Voit trained as an academic secondary school teacher at the Technical University ( TU ) and University of Munich, completing a period of practical teacher training by 1985.
He worked at the Federal Employment Agency from October 1985 onwards, first as a job placement officer then as a job counsellor.
When SGB-II was introduced in January 2005 he acted as the team leader for the placement department of an ARGE ( joint agency ).
