Hundreds of circus performers, amateur and professional, are being put through their paces in everything from acrobatics to chair balancing and classic flying trapeze.
He is usually played by an actor trained in gymnastics, for he pounces, does leaps and handsprings throughout the production, as well as using the flying trapeze.
