During the past century, the people of the area and beyond have enjoyed plays, movies, concerts, operettas, recitals, feiseanna, and fancy dress parades in this community space.
Service in this department was compulsory for able-bodied boys, where they often participated in drills, exercises, encampments, dress parades and mock skirmishes.
In the afternoon there was a colourful fancy dress parade through the town centre, with lots of dancing and singing, which was followed by a night market.
A barbecue will take place, along with music stalls, a ghost hunt and more activities, including a fancy dress parade, with the scariest costume being decided at 5.30pm.
