This large, trumpet-shaped variety of oyster mushroom looks like it has been harvested from a forest but, like a white button mushroom, it is commercially cultivated.
In order to stimulate the production of virulence factors, the researchers infected slices of button mushroom with the bacterium and examined the resulting decomposed areas with imaging mass spectrometry.
