Acylation is much more straightforward as the resulting -cyanocarbonyl compounds are much more acidic (and less nucleophilic) than corresponding starting materials.
By contrast, fluorocarbon based compounds are fluorinated for specific chemical, physical, and sometimes biological reasons, as they have properties that are very distinct from hydrocarbons.
