El escándalo político que acarreó la dimisión del Presidente Richard Nixon en 1974. En 1972 miembros del Partido Republicano Republican Party intentaron robar información de las oficinas del Partido Demócrata Democratic Party, situadas en el edifico de Watergate en Washington DC. Nixon sostuvo que él lo ignoraba, pero el periódico The Washington Post y grabaciones de conversaciones telefónicas contribuyeron para probar que mentía.
