The bodywork is typically minimal, and as with previous models it has a mechanical, functional appearance with little effort at prettifying, but this does lend it a certain presence.
There is photographic evidence to suggest the ruins were prettified during the second half of the 19th century, with eroded parapets rebuilt, and new window tracery inserted.
