I disagree strongly with the imputation that protecting me from being poisoned by lazy, slovenly or tightfisted restauranteurs is a bad thing or evidence of a nanny state.
It is a false economy, it's senseless to tie up money in stock when employers are tightfisted over staff numbers and the stock can't get put out for sale.
