Although astronomers have observed analogous structures around other stars, where they are termed astrospheres, mapping our own heliosphere is a major observational challenge.
So even though they evolved from different ancestors, porpoises and sharks developed analogous structures as a result of their evolution in the same aquatic environment.
The analogous structures have similar function or macroscopic structure, but different microscopic structure; for example, no thallus has vascular tissue.
