In den Regionen Ouaddai, Biltine und Mayo-Kebbi förderte die deutsche Entwicklungszusammenarbeit bis 2010 lokale Planungsprozesse.
Auf Basis dieser Pläne wurden Infrastrukturmaßnahmen für soziale Grundversorgung und wirtschaftliche Entwicklung finanziert, lokale Konventionen zum Schutz und zur Nutzung natürlicher Ressourcen unterstützt sowie Managementorgane bürgerschaftlicher Initiativen (Local orientation and decision-making bodies, ILOD) befähigt, die Einhaltung dieser Konventionen nachzuhalten.
Nutzer natürlicher Ressourcen, wie Bauern, Fischer und andere, wurden an nachhaltige Produktionsverfahren herangeführt, landwirtschaftliche Dienstleistungsstrukturen wurden aufgebaut.

On the basis of these plans, infrastructure measures for the provision of basic social services and economic development were funded, local agreements on the protection and use of natural resources supported, and the conditions created to enable local orientation and decision-making bodies (referred to as ILODs) to monitor compliance with these agreements.
Users of natural resources, such as farmers, fisherfolk and other groups, were encouraged to adopt sustainable production processes, and agricultural service structures were established.

Der gegenwärtige Arbeitsschwerpunkt dieser Emeritusgruppe ist die funktionelle Anatomie von Schaltkreisen in der Großhirnrinde, welche einfachen Verhaltensweisen zugrunde liegen ( z.B. decision making ).
Die Gruppe arbeitet daran, eine kortikale Säule in silico, also am Computer, zu rekonstruieren.
