Schlüsselbaustein ist ein zylindrischer Resonator aus Glas mit einem Durchmesser von ca. 50 Mikrometern.
Dieses Mikrotoroid kann Licht speichern, wenn dessen Wellenlänge hineinpasst, d.h. in einem ganzzahligen Verhältnis zum optischen Umfang des Resonators steht.

A key element is a cylindrical resonator made out of glass with a diameter of approximately 50 microns.
The microtoroid can store light if it exhibits the right wavelength, that is if the toroid’s optical circumference is an integer multiple of the wavelength.
