Der zweite Kursteil behandelt dann extragalaktische Objekte, wie zum Beispiel Galaxien - inklusive unserer eigenen Milchstraße, aktive galaktische Kerne und Galaxiencluster sowie das Universum als Ganzes, wobei letzteres als Kosmologie bezeichnet wird.
Die Inhalte dieses zweiten Kursteils sind zusammengefasst in dem Buch Einführung in die Extragalaktische Astronomie und Kosmologie von Peter Schneider.
