If a patient survives, recovery may be prompt and complete, or protracted with sequelae, such as orchitis, hepatitis, uveitis, parotitis, desquamation or alopecia.
In the absence of any blockage these liver function tests are predictors of severe liver injury with possible sequelae of liver transplantation or death.
