The case system distinguishes among nominative, accusative, genitive, comitative, instrumental and locative cases, but there are also a large number of nominal derivational affixes.
It is also frequent to find null affixation for the least-marked cases (the nominative case in nominativeaccusative languages, and the absolutive case in ergativeabsolutive languages).
