Starting in the 1950s, jeans, originally designed for cowboys and miners, became popular among teenagers, especially members of the greaser subculture.
The initial act had three up-front performers in gold lam and the other nine in greaser attire (rolled up t-shirt sleeves, leather jackets, tank tops).
