in neurology and neurophysiology at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf ( HHU ) followed in 1998.
He was subsequently Consultant Neurologist and head of a research group before being appointed as W2 Professor for Neurology in 2006 .
In 2007 he held a chair in neuroscience and neurology at the Wales Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience in Bangor/UK.

Anschließend war er an der HHU als Oberarzt und Leiter einer Forschergruppe tätig und wurde 2006 auf eine W2-Professur für Neurologie berufen.
2007 hatte er einen Chair for Neuroscience and Neurology am Wales Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience in Bangor/UK inne.
