Von 1993 bis 2001 arbeitete er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Technische Informatik und Mikroelektronik der Technischen Universität Berlin.
Dort war er bis 1994 im Fachgebiet Rechnerarchitektur tätig und wechselte dann an das Fachgebiet Prozessdatenverarbeitung.
Seine Dissertation schloss er dort im April 1998 ab.
