The use of credit or debit cards has begun to replace the traveller's cheque as the standard for vacation money due to their convenience and additional security for the retailer.
This would not have happened if the apex bank had continued to insist that those who do not use direct fund transfer, electronic cards be issued with traveller's cheque.
A traveller's cheque can usually be replaced if lost or stolen (if the owner still has the receipt issued with the purchase of the cheques showing the serial numbers allocated).
