Im Anschluss arbeitete er am Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe, ehe er 2000 als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an das Kunstgeschichtliche Institut der Universität Frankfurt kam, wo er das neue Bilddatendanksystem DILPS ( „ Distributed Image Library Processing “ ) mitentwickelte ( siehe http://www.dilps.net/ ).
Ab 2003 veranstaltete er gemeinsam mit Henry Keazor Lehrveranstaltungen zu Musikvideoclips und veröffentlichte 2005 das Buch „Video thrills the Radio Star - Musikvideos:
