Due to the intraoperatively modified spacial situation, the preoperatively obtained image data are different to the situation found during the surgical intervention.

www.isys.uni-stuttgart.deIn dieser neuen Theorie bildete der Raum nicht mehr einen amorphen Hintergrund, eine Art geistiger Arena, in der die eigentliche Geometrie ihre Zirkel-und Lineal-Konstruktionen ausführt, sondern der Raum wird selbst zu einem geometrischen Objekt, das spezifische Eigenschaften aufweist.
Diese moderne und tiefgreifende Auffassung von Geometrie wurde hauptsächlich von Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646-1716) anvisiert; er entwickelte sie in Hunderten mathematischer und philosophischer Abhandlungen als Teil einer geometrischen analysis situs.
Die mathematischen Ergebnisse dieses Projekts wurden zu seinen Lebzeiten nicht veröffentlicht und auch nicht während des ganzen 18. Jahrhunderts.

This last, modern and far-reaching conception of geometry was mainly envisaged by Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646-1716), who developed it in hundreds of essays, both philosophical and mathematical, as part of a geometrical analysis situs.
The mathematical results of this project were not published in his lifetime, nor even during the course of the eighteenth century.
