Unter den erhaltenen Blanchet-Instrumenten stand der Firma J. C. NEUPERT als Vorlage ein einmanualiges Cembalo von François Étienne aus dem Jahre 1737 zur Verfügung.
Der Klang dieses von NEUPERT zunächst nur einmanualig nachgebauten Instruments erwies sich als so überzeugend, daß man sich entschloß, seine besonderen Vorzüge auch in eine zweimanualige Version zu übertragen.
