Pavullo nel Frignano - Das Kastell Montecuccoli
Nicht weit von Renno treffen wir auf das Kastell von Montecuccolo, wo der Kondottiere Raimondo Montecuccoli geboren wurde, der für seine Teilnahme am Dreißigjährigen Krieg (1616-1648) und dem Türkenkrieg berühmt wurde.
Die ansteigende Straße führt zum Burgdorf unter dem mittelalterlichen Kastell, das auf einem Felsvorsprung das Scoltenna-Tal und die Verbindungswege mit der Toskana überwacht.

A stone’s throw from Renno we come across the Castle of Montecuccolo, where the famous military leader Raimondo Montecuccoli was born, best known for fighting the Turks in the Thirty-Year War (1616-48).
The road climbs to the village situated at the foot of the medieval castle, which perches on a rocky spur to watch over the Scoltenna valley and the roads to Tuscany.
