There are paths round the lake and the Herreninsel.

Als Ludwig II. 1873 die Herreninsel kaufte, ließ er in den barocken Klostergebäuden Wohnräume einrichten.
1948 tagte hier der Verfassungskonvent, der das Grundgesetz vorbereitete.

when Ludwig II bought the island in 1873 he had rooms in the Baroque monastery buildings converted for his private use.
In 1948 the Constitutional Convention was held here to draw up the future constitution of Germany.
