Johannes Scholz graduierte von der Fachhochschule Kärnten, Studiengang Geoinformation, in 2004 und arbeitete als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter bis Ende 2006 am Studiengang Geoinformation.
Von 2007 bis 2010 war hatte er eine Stelle als Universitäts-Projektassistent am Institut für Geoinformation der TU Graz inne.
