Die Sportgerätespende ist Teil der internationalen Sportförderung des Auswärtigen Amts im Rahmen der Auswärtigen Kultur- und Bildungspolitik.
Das Auswärtige Amt fördert in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Deutschen Olympischen Sportbund ( DOSB ) und dem Deutschen Fußball- Bund ( DFB ) die Entwicklung des Fußballsports in Namibia durch zahlreiche Projekte, unter anderem durch die Entsendung des Fußballtrainers Klaus Stärk im Rahmen eines Langzeitprojekts ( seit 2008 ).
Zusätzlich werden Sportgeräte gespendet und Lehrgänge für namibische Trainer und Traineranwärter an verschiedenen deutschen Sportschulen und Universitäten angeboten.

The Foreign Office in cooperation with the German Olympic Sports Confederation ( DOSB ) and the German Football Association ( DFB ) supports the development of football in Namibia through, amongst others, the secondment of football coach Klaus Stärk in the framework of a long- term project that has been running since 2008.
Donations of sporting equipment, the sponsoring and hosting of coaching courses for Namibian coaches at German sports schools and universities as well as accompanying short- term projects are also a part of the programme.
