Das Institut wird von Prof. Frank Emmrich geleitet , der als Professor in die Universität Leipzig eingebunden ist und dort seit 1994 den Lehrstuhl für Klinische Immunologie einnimmt .
Die parallele Leitung eines universitären Instituts, in diesem Fall des Instituts für Klinische Immunologie und Transfusionsmedizin ( IKIT ) ermöglicht einen gegenseitigen Erfahrungsaustausch, optimale Betreuung von Doktoranden und Diplomanden und eine hervorragende Grundlage für Kooperationen.

The director of the Fraunhofer IZI is Prof. Dr . Frank Emmrich , who is also a professor at the University of Leipzig , where he has headed the Institute of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine since 1994 .
This dual position enables the efficient sharing of experience, not to mention the optimal supervision of undergraduate and doctoral dissertations, and provides an excellent basis for cooperation.
