Auf der Basis geotechnischer Untersuchungen wird das nachgewiesene Speicherpotenzial auf über zwei Mrd. Kubikmeter Arbeitsgas beziffert, das in bis zu 24 Kavernen gespeichert werden könnte.
Geplant ist die Anbindung des Speichers an die im Bau befindliche Ferngasleitung NEL über eine genehmigte, etwa 20 km lange Anschlussleitung mit entsprechendem Zugang zum Marktgebiet GASPOOL, sowie an die direkt am Untergrundspeicher vorbei laufende Ferngasleitung OPAL.
Dem Bau des geplanten Erdgasspeichers bei Moeckow steht von behördlicher Seite nichts mehr im Wege.

The plan is to connect the storage to the NEL pipeline, currently in construction, via an approx. 20 km long connection line, for which planning permission has already been granted, providing access to the GASPOOL market, and to the long distance pipeline OPAL that runs directly past the subterraneous storage.
On the part of the authorities nothing stands in the way of the construction of the planned natural gas storage at Moeckow.
