Topographical poetry, especially the prospect poem, moved from the scientific and geographical description to become a venue for personal, historical and meditative thought.
Eventually stretching to one hundred "juan", or scrolls, the treatise contains numerous maps and much geographical detail covering both the western and eastern hemispheres.
