In 1867, ASPCA operated its first ambulance for injured horses and advocated alternatives for inhumane actions toward animals such as horses, live pigeons, cats and dogs.
Further, the ASPCA is opposed to childrens rodeo events such as goat tying, calf riding and sheep riding (mutton busting), which do not promote humane care and respect for animals.
