Dry highlighters (occasionally called dry line highlighters) have an applicator that applies a thin strip of highlighter tape (physically similar to audio tape) instead of a felt tip.
The serial numbers of the bills are recorded, and sometimes markings are made on the bank notes themselves (such as with a highlighter or other writing).
