Throughout history, presidents have made appointments during intersession recesses, and since the 1940s they have also frequently made appointments during intrasession recesses longer than three days or so.
An intersession may be a period of a few weeks between semesters or quarters during which students can take short, accelerated classes or complete other academic work.
