The size has to match the weight of the material to be embroidered, the needle point must match the weave and the needle system must fit the machine.

Atlas weave is akin to twill in that a number of threads ( instead of only one as with twill ) is skipped, e.g. four up, one down, four u … and in the next row, the offset is anywhere from two to eight.
The result is a fabric that s very smooth and shiny on the right side and dull on the left.

Atlasbindung ist mit dem Köper insofern verwandt, als immer mehrere Fäden ( statt wie bei Leinenbindung nur einer ) übersprungen werden, z.B. vier rauf, eins runter, vier rauf, eins runte … und in der nächsten Zeile um zwei versetzt, in der übernächsten um weitere zwei versetzt etc.
Es können aber genausogut 6 oder 8 Fäden übersprungen werden und / oder der Versatz mehr als zwei betragen.
