Most events occurred within 48 hours of dosing and were generally managed with dose interruption or discontinuation and empiric treatment (steroids and/or antibiotics).
In both cases, health professionals must consider a person's risk factors for different organisms when choosing the initial antibiotics (called empiric therapy).
Once they do, empiric therapy may be switched to specific antibiotic therapy targeted to the specific causative organism and its sensitivities to antibiotics.
