Durch die hohe Redundanz kann auch ein kurzzeitiger Ausfall einer einzelnen Messstelle durch Empfangsfehler oder durch Fehler bei der Datenübertragung weitestgehend ohne jeden Qualitätsverlust kompensiert werden.
Die Weiterverarbeitung der Blitzdaten erfolgt auf UNIX-Workstations mit Hilfe des Softwarepaketes CATS ( Computer Aided Thunderstorm Surveillance System ), welches von der Betreiberfirma des französischen Blitzortungssystem METEORAGE speziell für diese Zwecke entwickelt wurde.
Mit CATS erfolgt eine laufende Archivierung aller Blitzdaten in einer großen Datenbank.
