The World Bank initiative ‘ Stepping up skills – for more jobs and higher productivity ‘, for example, stresses the need to gear measures to the needs of current and future employees in the informal economy.
In relation to promoting economic development , the World Bank also explicitly recommends acknowledgement of the informal economy and its active involvement in local economic development strategies .
Further recommendations for areas of intervention include better access to infrastructure, public services, capital, training and information, and targeted support for informal sectors with growth potential.
