Diese Frequenz wird im Backscatter-Modus detektiert und in eine Geschwindigkeit umgerechnet.
Mit einer statistischen Analyse können aus den gemessenen Signalen, deren minimale Anzahl von der untersuchten Strömungskonfiguration abhängig ist, die mittleren Geschwindigkeiten, Standardabweichungen und andere turbulente Parameter bestimmt werden.
