Von 1993 bis 1999 forschte er als Post-Doc am Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik in Saarbrücken.
1999 habilitierte er im Fach Informatik an der Universität des Saarlandes und übernahm eine Forschungsgruppenleiterstelle ( C3 ) am MPI für Informatik.
