The confectionery giant caused a furore in 2009 when it was revealed it had substituted cocoa butter with vegetable fat, including palm oil, in its chocolate recipe.
It is more variable in composition than palm olein, the liquid fraction of palm oil, especially in terms of its solid fat content, and therefore has more variable physical characteristics.
