Improvements to date have included woodland sculptures, clearing and new planting of shrubs and trees and the planting of narcissi with much volunteer involvement from local schools and residents.
Everything now flowers earlier than the catalogues and books say, so the narcissi can be mowed down before the grass has become too untidy for too long.
If you were planting crocus or narcissi like this in heavy soil, you'd add a little grit or spent compost to the hole, but not with these moisture-loving fritillaries.
