Although no exonerations resulted from the review of over 5,000 qualifying cases, a great deal was learned about retrospective analysis of cases throughout the course of the project.
An additional 1,170 other cases were identified but are not included in the count because these were group exonerations made after 13 major police misconduct scandals came to light.
