Iridium is found in nature as an uncombined element or in natural alloys; especially the iridiumosmium alloys, osmiridium (osmium-rich), and iridosmium (iridium-rich).
For air pollution applications, the definition of particulate does not include uncombined water, and water from a particulate sample must be removed before it is weighed.
