The final carrier, the company which delivers the freight to its final destination, is responsible for collecting the money from the consignee before delivery.
The consignee may take goods from the consignment stock for use or resale subject to payment to the consignor agreeably to the terms bargained in the consignment agreement.
Some road transportation is done on regular routes or for only one consignee per run, while others transport goods from many different loading stations/shippers to various consignees.
